Acceptance is an American rock band that emerged from the Seattle music scene in the late 1990s. Known for their emotive lyrics and compelling melodies, Acceptance quickly gained a dedicated fanbase. The band originally comprised of Jason Vena (vocals), Christian McAlhaney (guitar), Kaylan Cloyd (guitar), Ryan Zwiefelhofer (bass), Garrett Lunceford (drums), and later the addition of Kyle Flynn (keyboards). They released their debut album “Lost for Words” in 2000, followed by “Black Lines to Battlefields” in 2003, which solidified their place in the post-grunge and alternative rock genres.
However, it was their 2005 major-label release, “Phantoms,” under the aegis of Columbia Records, that catapulted them to widespread acclaim. The album featured hit singles like “Different” and “Take Cover,” which resonated deeply with fans and critics alike. “Phantoms” is often cited as a defining work in the emo-rock genre, characterized by its heartfelt lyrics and sophisticated musical arrangements. Despite their early success, the band experienced internal conflicts and disbanded shortly after the album’s release, leaving a lasting legacy in the alt-rock community.
Acceptance’s popularity saw a resurgence when they reunited in 2015, leading to the release of their much-anticipated album “Colliding by Design” in 2017.
