Bruno Pelletier is a Canadian pop-rock singer, musician, and musical theatre performer from Quebec, born August 7, 1962. Known internationally as the ‘Genius of French Music’, he is recognized for his powerful tenor voice and a career spanning multiple decades across recording, touring, and theatrical production in North America and Europe.
Pelletier’s music career began in the early 1980s with bands performing in English before transitioning to French-language music production in the late 1980s. His self-titled debut album (1992) established his commercial presence, followed by the landmark album Miserere (1997), which surpassed 200,000 copies sold and earned him the Félix Award for Male Singer of the Year. His album D’autres rives (1999) became one of the best-selling Francophone albums in Canada and achieved gold and platinum certifications across multiple territories.
Pelletier achieved substantial international recognition through musical theatre, particularly his iconic role as Pierre Gringoire in Luc Plamondon and Riccardo Cocciante’s Notre-Dame de Paris. He performed this role across French, English, and international touring productions starting in 1998, earning multiple Félix Awards and industry recognition. The Notre-Dame de Paris cast recording achieved multi-platinum status and earned him World Music Awards in 1999 and 2000 for best-selling French recording artist. He continued performing in major musical productions including Dracula – Entre l’amour et la mort (2006) and Les Filles de Caleb (2011).
