Hot Chocolate are a British soul and funk band formed in Brixton in 1968. The group became one of the most successful acts of the 1970s and 1980s, charting 25 UK top 40 singles and achieving at least one hit on the UK Singles Chart every year between 1970 and 1984. They were one of just three acts, alongside Elvis Presley and Diana Ross, to achieve this feat during the 1970s decade.
The band’s major hits include ‘You Sexy Thing’ (which made the UK top 10 and charted across three decades), ‘So You Win Again’ (UK number one), ‘Every 1’s a Winner’ (US number six, Canadian top five), ‘It Started with a Kiss’ (UK top five), and ‘Emma’ (UK number three, US number eight). Their commercial peak came during the mid-1970s disco era. The group released nine studio albums from Cicero Park (1974) through Strictly Dance (1993).
Hot Chocolate recorded primarily with producer Mickie Most on the Rak record label, with Errol Brown and Tony Wilson as principal songwriters and performers. The band disbanded in 1986 but reformed in 1992 with a new vocalist and continue to perform at UK and European venues. Available to book for festivals, corporate events, and private shows.
