Biography / Discography
Kristína Peláková, known professionally as Kristína, is a Slovak pop and ballad singer born in Svidník on 20 August 1987. Beginning her career as a child singer, dancer and pianist, she later studied at the Conservatoire in Košice and was discovered by producer Martin Kavulič, securing a recording contract with H.o.M.E. Production. Her debut single “Som tvoja” featuring rapper Opak premiered in 2007, followed by the hit “Vráť mi tie hviezdy” in 2008.
Kristína achieved her breakthrough as Slovakia’s Eurovision Song Contest 2010 representative with the ballad “Horehronie”, which advanced from the semi-final. The single “V sieti ťa mám” reached number one on the Slovak airplay chart in October 2010, establishing her as one of the most prominent female recording artists in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Her second studio album, also titled “V sieti ťa mám” (2010), was well received by critics for its contemporary production. Her single “Life Is A Game” became the official song of the 2011 IIHF World Championship held in Slovakia.
Throughout the 2010s, Kristína continued releasing music across multiple genres including pop, ballad and reggaeton-influenced tracks. Her compilation album “Tie Naj” (2014) achieved platinum certification in Slovakia and included chart hits “Rozchodový reggaeton” and “Ta ne”, the latter becoming her first top-ten single in Poland. Her fifth studio album “Mať Srdce” (2017) produced Slovak top-ten singles including “Si pre mňa best” and “Láska bombová”. She has also released a children’s album “Snívanky” (2020) and continues touring throughout Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Europe.
