Biography / Discography
Piero Pelù (born Pietro Pelù on 10 February 1962 in Florence) is an iconic Italian rock singer, songwriter, and composer. Co-founding Litfiba in 1980, he quickly rose to fame as the band’s charismatic frontman, steering their evolution from punk-new wave origins to hard rock and worldbeat influences. Litfiba released seminal albums such as Desaparecido (1985), El Diablo (1990), Terremoto (1993), and Infinito (1999). After a brief split in 1999, Pelù launched a solo career: his debut album Né buoni né cattivi (2000) topped the charts and featured hits like “Io ci sarò” and “Toro loco”. His post-Litfiba works include U.D.S. (2002) and Pugili fragili (2020).
In 2009, Pelù rejoined Litfiba, contributing to the acclaimed reunion album Stato libero di Litfiba and later Grande nazione (2012) and Eutòpia (2016). Beyond his music, he’s known for activism—participating in anti-war projects like “Il mio nome è mai più” (1999) and leading environmental initiatives such as the “Clean Beach Tour”. His political stance and advocacy are deeply embedded in lyrics like “Bomba Boomerang” and “Maria Coraggio”.
