Taylor Dayne, born Leslie Wunderman on March 7, 1962, is an American dance-pop singer and songwriter who became one of the defining artists of the 1980s and 1990s. She achieved international prominence following the July 1987 release of her debut single “Tell It to My Heart,” which reached No. 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100, establishing her signature style of dance-pop blended with rock and adult contemporary influences.
Dayne released two platinum-certified albums early in her career: Tell It to My Heart (1988) and Can’t Fight Fate (1989), each achieving 2× Platinum status from the RIAA. She charted seven US Top 10 singles including “Prove Your Love,” “I’ll Always Love You,” “Don’t Rush Me,” and “Love Will Lead You Back,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1990. Her subsequent releases—Soul Dancing (1993), Naked Without You (1998), and Satisfied (2008)—extended her presence across three decades, with cumulative global sales exceeding 75 million albums and singles.
Dayne received two Grammy Award nominations (Best Pop Vocal, Female and Best Female R&B Vocal) and an American Music Award, with additional recognition from multiple New York Music Awards and industry publications including Rolling Stone and Billboard.
