Biography / Discography
William Ryan Key, also known professionally as Ryan Key, is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Jacksonville, Florida. He is best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the alternative rock and pop-punk band Yellowcard, formed in Jacksonville in 1997, which built a wide following through albums such as Ocean Avenue (2003), Lights and Sounds (2006) and When You Are Young (2011) before the band disbanded in 2017.
Beyond Yellowcard, Key records and performs as a solo singer-songwriter under his full name, releasing the EPs Thirteen and Virtue, which showcase a more stripped-down, acoustic-leaning sound. He is also a founding member of JEDHA, an electronic duo formed with longtime Yellowcard guitarist Ryan Mendez, and has toured and performed alongside acts including New Found Glory and Mayday Parade, supporting the latter on its 2018 Sunnyland tour.
Key operates The Lone Tree Recordings, a recording studio based in Jacksonville, Florida, and has additionally worked as a graphic designer, creating album artwork within the pop-punk and alternative rock scene.
