About 3LAU
Biography / Discography
Justin David Blau, better known by his stage name 3lau, is an American electronic music producer and DJ. He specializes in progressive house, electro house, deep house and dubstep, characterized by melodic arrangements and emotional songwriting. Blau began his professional music career in 2011 after discovering electronic dance music while vacationing in Sweden, and quickly gained recognition for his mashups and bootleg remixes, including bootlegs of Tiësto’s “Work Hard, Play Hard” and tracks charting in the top 10 on Beatport and Hype Machine.
In 2012, 3lau launched his 3lau Your Mind tour and released the album Dance Floor Filth. His career expanded internationally with tours across Europe (2015) and Asia (2015–2016), performing in Barcelona, Ibiza, Bangkok, Jakarta and Tokyo. He released his debut studio album Ultraviolet in February 2018 on his Blume label, which reached number one on iTunes’ Electronic Chart. The album featured collaborations with Emma Hewitt, Carly Paige, Said the Sky and Nevve, with singles including “Touch” (which also topped the iTunes Electronic Chart), “On My Own” and “Walk Away.”
In 2016, 3lau founded Blume Records, an independent record label with a non-profit charitable model directing streaming profits to nonprofit organizations. The label has raised over $200,000 for Pencils of Promise to fund education programs and school construction in Guatemala. In June 2018, 3lau announced the creation of OMF (Our Music Festival), described as the first blockchain-powered music festival, which took place in San Francisco in October 2018 and was headlined by Zedd.
