The framework of the group initially consisted of 3 musicians from Denmark: Søren Rasted, DJ René Dif and Claus Norreen. Later on Norwegian vocalist Lene Nystrøm joined the trio, becoming a true “cherry on top”.
Aqua is the reincarnation of the band Joyspeed. In 1996 the musicians decided to give their project new and more catching name and work in the unique bubblegum pop genre. The group rapidly grabbed the attention of a music label and producers. Soon the first single ‘Roses are Red’ was recorded. The second more successful single ‘My Oh My’ appeared in 1997. Later that year, dancefloors around the globe were swept off by ‘Barbie Girl’. Two record albums ‘Aquarium’ and ‘Aquarius’ became one of the most distributed releases of that period.
The musicians had to take a short break and develop themselves as solo-performers. Luckily, in 2007 the project reunited again. So today you have all chances to book Aqua band with its original line-up.
