Automatic is a Los Angeles-based trio redefining post-punk for a new generation. Formed by Izzy Glaudini (synths, vocals), Lola Dompé (drums, vocals), and Halle Saxon (bass, vocals), the band emerged from LA’s vibrant DIY scene with a sound that merges vintage new wave, krautrock rhythms, and synth-driven minimalism. Their name — inspired by a track by The Go-Go’s — perfectly captures their mechanical precision and hypnotic flow.

The band’s 2019 debut album Signal, released on Stones Throw Records, introduced their darkly danceable aesthetic — cold yet captivating, merging retro textures with modern feminist perspective. Songs like Too Much Money and Humanoid drew critical acclaim for their sharp social commentary and stripped-down power. With its driving basslines, analog synths, and detached vocal delivery, Automatic quickly became a defining name in the resurgence of minimalist post-punk and electronic rock.

Their sophomore record Excess (2022) expanded their sonic universe — blending dystopian themes with sleek, industrial grooves inspired by 1980s club culture and 21st-century consumerism. The album’s fusion of dance energy and existential mood solidified Automatic as one of the most forward-thinking bands on the Stones Throw roster.

Automatic have toured with artists like Bauhaus, Parquet Courts, and IDLES, and have appeared at major festivals including Primavera Sound, Desert Daze, and SXSW. Their live shows are both hypnotic and kinetic — a seamless dialogue between analog machinery and human emotion.
