Blawan (real name Jamie Roberts) is a pioneering British DJ, producer, and sound designer, born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Emerging from the UK’s post-dubstep scene in the early 2010s, he quickly gained a reputation for his dark, percussive sound that bridges industrial techno, experimental electronica, and raw club energy. His early releases on Hessle Audio and R&S Records introduced audiences to his distinctive approach — complex rhythms, gritty textures, and hypnotic minimalism.
Blawan’s breakthrough came with the underground hit “Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage?”, a track that became an anthem in the electronic community for its eerie atmosphere and relentless drive. From there, he evolved beyond club singles into a full-fledged electronic visionary, known for pushing sonic boundaries through modular synthesis and live analog hardware.
In 2015, he launched his own label Ternesc, serving as a creative outlet for his evolving sound and as a platform for experimentation. His debut album “Wet Will Always Dry” (2018) showcased his mastery of texture, layering, and rhythm — earning critical acclaim for its balance between harsh industrial tones and emotional depth.
Beyond his solo work, Blawan is also known as one-half of the acclaimed live techno duo Karenn (with Pariah), performing at legendary venues such as Berghain, Fabric, and major global festivals.
