About Bumzu
Biography / Discography
Bumzu (Kye Beom-ju, born November 8, 1991) is a South Korean record producer, songwriter, and singer. Based in Seoul, he learned violin as a child and became active in the city’s underground music scene during high school. He achieved mainstream recognition after competing on the singing competition show Superstar K 4 at age 22, following which he launched his influential career in K-pop production.
Bumzu is best known for his extensive songwriting and production work with Pledis Entertainment labelmates NU’EST and Seventeen, collaborating with the latter since their 2013 debut on the hit track “Adore U.” His production credits span the Korean music industry, including work with Shinee, Fromis 9, NCT 127, TWS, and BTS member Jin. Since 2016, he has served as co-CEO of Prismfilter Music Group, a music production company. In 2019, he became a full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA), honoring creators meeting the highest professional and copyright standards. In February 2024, he received KOMCA’s grand prize as South Korea’s highest-earning K-pop songwriter of 2023. In December 2025, he won the Legendary Producer award at the 10th Asia Artist Awards for the second consecutive year.
