Cafuné is an indie pop duo from New York City, formed by singer-songwriter Sedona Schat and producer-guitarist Noah Yoo. The two met while studying at New York University and bonded over a shared love for dreamy guitar tones, lush harmonies, and the nostalgic feel of early-2000s alternative music. The word “Cafuné,” meaning “the act of running your fingers through someone’s hair” in Portuguese, perfectly reflects their musical style — intimate, comforting, and emotionally rich.

The duo released their debut album Running in 2021, an independent project that gained widespread attention after the single “Tek It” went viral globally in 2022. The song’s hypnotic chorus and hazy production became an anthem for Gen Z listeners across platforms, propelling Cafuné into the spotlight and earning them a deal with Elektra Records.
