Cajmere is the alias of Curtis Alan Jones, one of the most influential figures in electronic dance music and a pioneer of Chicago house. A native of Chicago, Jones studied chemical engineering at the University of Illinois before turning his focus to music, blending soulful house rhythms with futuristic production. In 1991, he founded Cajual Records, a label that became a cornerstone of the city’s underground sound, launching hits that helped define the golden era of house.

Under the Cajmere name, he released the genre-defining single “Percolator,” which remains a dancefloor anthem decades later. Its hypnotic rhythm and playful vocal loop helped cement his reputation as a visionary producer and innovator. In the mid-1990s, Jones introduced his darker, more experimental alter ego Green Velvet, expanding his influence across techno and house scenes worldwide.
