Cold War Kids is an American indie rock band formed in 2004 in Long Beach, California. The group initially gained traction with their energetic live performances and distinctive sound, characterized by bluesy piano melodies, gritty guitar riffs, and Nathan Willett’s soulful vocals. The original lineup included Nathan Willett, Matt Maust, Jonnie Russell, and Matt Aveiro, though it has seen changes over the years.
Cold War Kids released their debut EP, “Mulberry Street,” in 2005, followed by “Up in Rags” and “With Our Wallets Full” in 2006. Their first full-length album, “Robbers & Cowards,” was released in 2006 to critical acclaim, establishing them as a significant force within the indie rock scene. Subsequent albums such as “Loyalty to Loyalty” (2008), “Mine Is Yours” (2011), and “Dear Miss Lonelyhearts” (2013) demonstrated their evolving sound and consistent ability to captivate audiences.
