Dixie Chicks, now known as The Chicks, are a prominent American country music band that originally formed in 1989 in Dallas, Texas. The group was founded by sisters Martie and Emily Erwin, and initially consisted of four women performing bluegrass and country music. Over time, the lineup changed and in 1995, Natalie Maines joined the group as the lead vocalist, completing the trio that would go on to achieve significant commercial success.
