Kollárovci is a Slovak music group. It was founded in 1997 and their main source of repertoire consists of Slovak folk songs, which they try to enrich and revive with their own musical arrangement. The Kollárovci come from the small Goral village of Kolačkov in the Stará Ľubovňa district. The band consists of six members, including three Kollárov brothers: Tomáš Kollár, Štefan Kollár and the youngest Marek Kollár. The instrumental ensemble consists of violin, saxophone, dulcimer, accordion, double bass and drums, guitar. The Kollárovci brothers are very popular in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
- Biography
The basis of their repertoire is a folk song enriched with their Goral temperament. The repertoire also includes songs from other genres, such as classical music, popular music, or his own work, which characterizes this band and separates it from other bands of a similar genre. The author’s songs were composed by: Štefan Kollár, Tomáš Kollár, Marek Kollár, Štefan Repka, but they also collaborated with Martin Sarvaš.
The band Kollárovci underwent small changes. Their cousin Štefan Repka left. He went his own way. Ďuri joined the band and we see it as a positive change.
The Kollárovci released 11 music CDs and 4 music CDs. Every year they perform several performances, they performed abroad at the folklore festival in Chambly (France) and in other countries such as Romania, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria. In the Czech Republic, they regularly perform in Šlágr TV. One of the largest festivals is the Gorals’ Meeting in Pieniny, which takes place every year in the Red Monastery.
