About Jody Wisternoff
Biography / Discography
Jody Wisternoff, born Joseph Wisternoff in Bristol, England, is an English electronic music producer and DJ known as one half of the progressive house duo Way Out West and as a solo artist whose output spans early 1990s hardcore to deep house. He began recording in the late 1980s as one half of Tru Funk Posse alongside his brother Sam Wisternoff, working out of Bristol producers Smith & Mighty’s studio. In the early 1990s he DJ’d at Bristol clubs including Universe and Fantasia and produced under the name Sub Love with DJ Die, later of Reprazent.
Wisternoff formed Way Out West with Nick Warren in Bristol, and the duo built a catalogue of progressive house releases including the tracks “The Gift” and “Ajare” and a self-titled debut album, continuing through releases including the 2017 album Tuesday Maybe. As a solo artist he released mix albums including The Silver Planet Collection Volume 1 (1997) and Way Out There (2001), and issued his debut solo studio album, Trails We Blaze, on Anjunadeep in May 2012, featuring the single “How You Make Me Smile” with vocalist Pete Josef. His remix credits include work for Leama & Moor, Moussa Clarke, and Andrew Bennett & Rico Soarez, and he has also released electro house-influenced singles such as “Nostalgia” and “Starstrings.”
