About Jon Bon Jovi
Biography / Discography
Jon Bon Jovi (born John Francis Bongiovi Jr., March 2, 1962) is an American rock musician, singer, songwriter, and guitarist best known as the founder and frontman of the rock band Bon Jovi. Formed in 1983, Bon Jovi became one of the world’s best-selling rock acts, with the band selling more than 149 million records worldwide and performing over 3,000 concerts across more than 50 countries. The band’s 1986 album Slippery When Wet, featuring the number-one hits “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin’ on a Prayer,” established them as a global phenomenon. Subsequent albums including New Jersey (1988) and Keep the Faith (1992) sold over ten million copies each, with the band incorporating soft rock and country elements that sustained their popularity into the 21st century. As of 2022, Bon Jovi has released 16 studio albums with the band.
Beyond his work with the band, Bon Jovi released two critically acclaimed solo albums: Blaze of Glory (1990), a soundtrack to Young Guns II featuring the number-one single “Blaze of Glory,” and Destination Anywhere (1997). His solo work earned him Academy Award and Grammy Award nominations. Bon Jovi has also pursued an acting career, appearing in films including U-571, Cry Wolf, and New Year’s Eve, and in television series such as The West Wing, Ally McBeal, and 30 Rock. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009 and the U.S. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
Beyond music and entertainment, Bon Jovi has engaged extensively in philanthropy and activism. He founded the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation in 2006 to address poverty and homelessness, establishing the JBJ Soul Kitchen, a community restaurant model where patrons pay what they can afford. Bon Jovi remains available to book for concerts, festivals, and special events.
