About Streets of Laredo
Biography / Discography
Streets of Laredo is a six-piece folk-pop band formed by brothers Dave Gibson and Daniel Gibson, with Dave’s wife Sarahjane Gibson, Sean McMahon, Cameron Deyell, and Andrew McGovern. Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, the ensemble relocated to Brooklyn, New York in 2012 and has since become known for acoustic-driven indie pop with intricate vocal harmonies and experimental arrangements.
The band released their debut single “Girlfriend” in December 2012 to positive reception, establishing their melodic pop sensibility. Streets of Laredo earned recognition through awards including first place in the Nashville Unsigned Only Awards (2013) and accolades at the CMJ Music Marathon. After signing to Dine Alone Records, they released their debut album Volume I & II in October 2014, combining two previously self-released EPs from 2013. The album demonstrated their blend of folk instrumentation with pop songcraft and won favorable critical reviews.
The band’s 2016 album Wild, produced by John Agnello, showcased their artistic evolution with experimental and cultural undertones. The project received positive reception and reinforced their reputation for thoughtful songwriting and sophisticated arrangements. Streets of Laredo toured extensively throughout North America and Europe, building a dedicated fanbase through their dynamic live performances.
