Teddy Swims, born Jaten Collin Dimsdale on September 25, 1992, in Conyers, Georgia, is an American singer-songwriter whose genre-blending music has made him a rising star. Influenced by soul legends like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Al Green, Teddy grew up with a passion for music. His journey into music began in high school when a teacher encouraged him to explore musical theatre, leading him to perform in plays like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Rent. He later began teaching himself to play instruments like the piano and ukulele, developing his powerful vocal technique.
Swims’ music career started with him performing in various Atlanta-based bands, ranging from alternative rock to soul and progressive rock. In 2019, Teddy gained attention by touring with Tyler Carter and posting covers of popular songs on YouTube. His rendition of Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” went viral, amassing millions of views. This led to a record deal with Warner Records.
Teddy’s breakthrough came in 2023 with his single “Lose Control,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and earned him international recognition. This success preceded the release of his debut album I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1), which charted in Australia and the Netherlands.
