About Arctic Monkeys
Biography / Discography
Arctic Monkeys are an English indie rock band formed in Sheffield in 2002. The group comprises lead singer and guitarist Alex Turner, drummer Matt Helders, guitarist Jamie Cook, and bassist Nick O’Malley, who joined in 2006. Emerging during the “blog rock” era of internet-driven music discovery, they became one of the earliest bands to gain mainstream attention through online promotion before achieving significant commercial success.
Their debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not (2006), topped the UK Albums Chart and became the fastest-selling debut album in British chart history at that time, winning the Brit Award for Best British Album in 2007. Favourite Worst Nightmare (2007) also won Best British Album at the 2008 Brit Awards. The band achieved global breakthrough with their fifth album, AM (2013), driven by the international hit single “Do I Wanna Know?”. AM topped four Billboard charts, achieved 4× Platinum certification in the US, and won the Brit Award for Best British Album in 2014. Subsequent releases included Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino (2018), a departure toward piano-oriented arrangements, and The Car (2022), which received Mercury Prize and Ivor Novello Award nominations.
Arctic Monkeys have won seven Brit Awards, a Mercury Prize, and 20 NME Awards, with nine Grammy Award nominations to date. Their debut and AM appear on Rolling Stone and NME lists of greatest albums of all time. The band is available to book for festivals, live venues, corporate events, and international tours.
