About Scorpions
Biography / Discography
Scorpions are a German hard rock and heavy metal band formed in Hanover in 1965 by guitarist Rudolf Schenker. As one of the world’s best-selling hard rock acts with an estimated 100 million records sold globally, they are known for evolving from aggressive heavy metal into a distinctive melodic rock-metal sound that defined arena rock in the 1980s and 1990s.
The classic lineup that achieved international prominence featured vocalist Klaus Meine, lead guitarist Matthias Jabs, bassist Francis Buchholz, and drummer Herman Rarebell alongside founder Schenker, who remains the sole original continuous member. This configuration achieved remarkable chart success from the late 1970s onward: thirteen consecutive studio albums reached Germany’s top 10, and three consecutive albums broke the Billboard 200 top 10. Their 1990 album Crazy World produced one of the best-selling singles of all time, with over 14 million copies sold worldwide.
The band has continued recording and touring actively into the 21st century, with their most recent studio album, Rock Believer, released in February 2022. The group remains a major force on the touring circuit and is available to book for festivals, corporate events, and live performances worldwide.
