About Garbage
Biography / Discography
Garbage is an American four-piece rock band formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 1994, consisting of Scottish vocalist Shirley Manson and American musicians Duke Erikson (guitar, bass, keyboards), Steve Marker (guitar, keyboards), and Butch Vig (drums, percussion). The band blends alternative rock, electronic rock, trip hop, industrial rock, and dance-rock into a distinctive sonic style influenced by artists including The Velvet Underground, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and David Bowie.
Their self-titled 1995 debut album achieved over four million copies sold with double platinum certification in multiple countries, while their 1998 follow-up Version 2.0 topped the UK charts and earned Grammy nominations. The band created the theme song for the 1999 James Bond film The World Is Not Enough. After releasing four studio albums through 2005, Garbage entered an indefinite hiatus before reuniting in 2010, subsequently releasing four additional studio albums between 2012 and 2025, with their latest arriving in May 2025.
To date, Garbage has sold over 17 million albums worldwide and received 57 award nominations, winning 17 awards including Grammy and BRIT Award recognition. The band is available to book for festivals, corporate events, and private performances.
