Buzzcocks are one of the most influential punk bands to emerge from the UK’s late-1970s explosion, known for combining the urgency of punk with the melodic brilliance of classic pop songwriting. Formed in 1976 in Manchester by Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto, the group became a cornerstone of the punk movement with their sharp lyrics, infectious hooks, and fearless DIY attitude. After Devoto’s departure, Shelley took over as frontman, and the band released a string of genre-defining singles that shaped the sound of punk and power pop alike.
