About Eiffel 65
Biography / Discography
Eiffel 65 is an Italian eurodance group formed in 1997 in Turin by Jeffrey Jey, Maurizio Lobina, and Gabry Ponte. The trio achieved global prominence with their 1999 debut album Europop, which peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 chart. The album’s lead singles, ‘Blue (Da Ba Dee)’ and ‘Move Your Body’, became international hits, with ‘Blue’ becoming one of the most commercially successful dance tracks of all time, selling over 20 million copies worldwide.
Following Europop’s success, Eiffel 65 released Contact! in 2001 and their self-titled third album in 2003, though neither achieved comparable international commercial success. The group received significant recognition with a World Music Award in 2000 for World’s Best Selling Italian Group and a Grammy Award nomination for Best Dance Recording for ‘Blue (Da Ba Dee)’. Beyond original compositions, the group produced remixes for major artists and created official music for global events, including a track for the UEFA Euro 2000 football championship and music featured in the 2006 Winter Olympics.
In 2005, Ponte departed to pursue a solo career while Jey and Lobina collaborated as the duo Bloom 06. The group reunited in 2010 as a two-member act, continuing to perform without Ponte’s participation.
