About Kiss
Biography / Discography
Kiss was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1973 by Paul Stanley (vocals, rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals, bass guitar), Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals), and Peter Criss (drums, vocals). The band achieved prominence through theatrical live performances featuring fire-breathing, pyrotechnics, smoking guitars, and elaborate costumes. The four original members adopted comic book-inspired personas: the Starchild (Stanley), the Demon (Simmons), the Spaceman (Frehley), and the Catman (Criss).
Kiss experienced significant lineup changes throughout its four-decade career, with drummer Eric Carr and later guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer joining the band while Stanley and Simmons remained as core members. From 1983 to 1996, Kiss performed without makeup in their “unmasked” era, introducing the band to new audiences through MTV. The 1983 album Lick It Up achieved platinum status and marked a commercial resurgence. Following a wave of nostalgia, the original lineup reunited in 1996 and returned to their signature makeup and theatrical stage production.
Kiss became one of America’s most successful rock acts, earning 30 Gold albums and 14 Platinum albums, the most Gold certifications of any American band. The four original members were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. The band’s 1996-1997 reunion tour grossed $143.7 million. Kiss retired after its final performance in New York City in December 2023, concluding a farewell worldwide tour. Available to book for festivals, corporate events, and special appearances.
