Modjo is a French house musical duo consisting of Yann Destagnol (also known as Yann Destal) and Romain Tranchart. Formed in the year 1999, the duo quickly gained widespread fame with their chart-topping hit “Lady (Hear Me Tonight).” This single not only showcased their unique blend of house music but also topped charts worldwide, making Modjo a household name in the early 2000s dance music scene. The song featured a sample from Chic’s “Soup for One,” which added a stylish and nostalgic feel to their contemporary house sound.
Yann Destagnol and Romain Tranchart met in Paris and decided to combine their talents to create music that fuses house, funk, disco, and pop. Their self-titled debut album, “Modjo,” released in 2001, included other notable tracks like “Chillin’” and “What I Mean,” although none matched the colossal success of “Lady (Hear Me Tonight).”
