About The Dandy Warhols
Biography / Discography
The Dandy Warhols are an American psychedelic and alternative rock band formed in Portland, Oregon in 1994 by singer-guitarist Courtney Taylor-Taylor and guitarist Peter Holmström. The group takes its name as a play on American pop artist Andy Warhol and expanded to include keyboardist Zia McCabe and drummer Brent DeBoer (replacing original drummer Eric Hedford in 1998). The band blends psychedelic, indie rock, and pop sensibilities into their distinctive sound.
The Dandy Warhols achieved mainstream recognition following the 1997 release of their Capitol Records debut, …The Dandy Warhols Come Down. Their breakthrough came in 2001 when their song “Bohemian Like You” gained international exposure through a Vodafone advertisement, significantly expanding their fanbase. The band was featured in the 2004 documentary Dig!, which chronicled their career alongside fellow Portland-based psychedelic act The Brian Jonestown Massacre.
Over three decades, the band has released 12 studio albums, 2 compilation albums, 6 EPs, and numerous singles, establishing themselves as enduring figures in alternative and psychedelic rock. Their catalog demonstrates consistent creative output and evolving musical exploration across multiple decades.
