A Flock of Seagulls is an English new wave and synthpop band formed in Liverpool in 1979. The group rose to international prominence during the early 1980s with a distinctive style that blended synthesizer-driven pop with new wave aesthetics. The most recognizable lineup featured Mike Score on lead vocals, his brother Ali Score on keyboards, Frank Maudsley on bass, and Paul Reynolds on guitar.
The band achieved major commercial success with their 1982 debut album, producing several international chart hits including ‘I Ran (So Far Away)’, ‘Space Age Love Song’, and ‘Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)’. The iconic music video for ‘I Ran’ received extensive MTV rotation and became emblematic of the Second British Invasion. In 1983, the band earned Grammy Award recognition for instrumental work, establishing their place in music history.
Following a period of inactivity, the original members reunited in the 2010s for new performances and recordings.
