Biography of Baccara

The way to success of many music bands has a common beginning: two talented musicians meet each other. The same happened to Maria Mendiola and Mayte Mateos. Passion for music motivated them to combine their efforts to create a music band, titled with a name of a rose cultivar. At the very beginning the girls performed at clubs and corporate parties. Later on it became more difficult to do Baccara book for a special occasion.

Baccara – a Spanish rose

The reason was that the two musicians got acquainted with a music producer who helped them to record their first single “Yes Sir, I Can Boogie”. Single became a smash hit and climbed the music charts all around Europe: Spain, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and other countries.

After the dou’s contacts were obtained by RCA record company, the debut album was released. A year after, the girls were invited to participate in Eurovision song contest, where they won 7-th position.
